Surfing, Fishing, & Swimming Hot Spot

While on vacation in Vero Beach, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to hang out by the beach, but Sebastian Inlet is so much more than that! We were both so impressed by everything there is to do there and he couldn't believe he hadn't been there before after vacationing in the area with his family for so many years.

Sebastian Inlet offers prime surfing, skimboarding, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and a beautiful picnic area underneath a canopy of palm trees. We packed a lunch and ate under the trees while other groups played soccer, drank summer cocktails, and lounged in hammocks. It was the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing afternoon.

Sebastian inlet is a surfing hot spot and it is home to many surfing tournaments throughout the year. The north jetty and inlet cause the waves to break perfectly. Another hot spot is Monster Hole, about 1/3 mile off the beach, on the south side of the Inlet. There happened to be a tournament going on the day we were there and it made for some awesome entertainment & great pictures.

Snook fishing is very popular at Sebastian Inlet, and there were plenty of fisherman taking advantage of the plentiful catch. In the summer, catch can also include mangrove snapper, sheepshead, croakers, jacks, ladyfish, and tarpon. Fall is the height of flounder season.

The water is pretty clear in the inlet, and I bet would make for some good snorkeling. We saw several manatees just hanging out under the catwalk.

*Tip: The Inlet is great for kids as there is a tide pool on the north side of the inlet, west of the bridge. The southwest side of the inlet is also good for small children.
