Best Running in the City

Forest Park is one of my favorite places in St. Louis, and a natural oasis in the city. There is something for everyone to do here whether it's going to the Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum, Science Center, or the Muny. It's also an epicenter for sports such as golf, tennis, baseball, bicycling, boating, fishing, handball, ice skating, rollerblading, jogging, rugby and more!

While living in the Central West End, Forest Park was my regular for jogging and bicycling. At 1,293 acres, there is plenty of ground to cover to keep your runs interesting. The running/biking path around the park creates about a 6 mile loop, and it makes a great training route with a nice combination of hills and flats.

My favorite trail to run is off of Kingshighway and West Pine Blvd. It goes across the old bridge above the railroad tracks and over the highway. Once you get to the end of that trail, turn to the right and head toward Skinker. It was so convenient from my old place, and there's a lot of different scenery along with a dirt trail that is easier on the legs :o) If you've never gone running here, you should definitely check it out-it's the best in the city!
